Pile of Remains

A Pile of Remains is a site-specific performance on the artificial island of Sacca San Mattia near Venice – a 40,000 m² wasteland made of industrial debris. The work addresses environmental pollution, negligence, and the ghosts of a fading culture. In a live performance, Isabelle Konrad combined image projections, spoken word, and a sound collage to create a multilayered echo of gradual destruction. A QR code installed on-site permanently links to information about the pollutants’ impact on the lagoon.
